Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale and Ephesus — Connected by Domestic Flights
Many travellers want to experience Turkey's most important destinations but have limited time available. The long overland transfers that connect Istanbul to Cappadocia, or Cappadocia to Pamukkale, are beautiful in their own right — but they also consume valuable hours that could be spent at the destination itself.
Turkey Highlights by Air resolves this tension. Domestic flights replace the longest road transfers, reducing transit fatigue and giving you significantly more time in each location. The experience remains fully private and guided throughout. Hotels are selected for character and proximity to the sites. The pace is comfortable rather than rushed.
Over seven days, you will explore Istanbul's Historic Peninsula, land in Cappadocia for its extraordinary volcanic landscapes and cave heritage, visit Pamukkale's white travertine terraces, and walk through Ephesus before returning to Istanbul. It is the most efficient way to experience the best of Turkey without compromising on depth or quality.
A fast-paced yet comfortable journey through Turkey's most iconic destinations.
Arrive in Istanbul and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon is free to settle in. Your guide will meet you in the evening to introduce the itinerary and prepare you for the days ahead.
A full day on the Historic Peninsula. Visit Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Imperial Harem, the Basilica Cistern and the Grand Bazaar. Your guide provides the full Byzantine and Ottoman historical context that makes each site legible and meaningful rather than simply visible.
Fly to Kayseri or Nevšehir and transfer to Cappadocia. In the afternoon, visit the Göreme Open Air Museum and its collection of Byzantine rock-cut churches with preserved frescoes. Walk through the valleys that make this landscape unlike anything else in the world.
A second day in Cappadocia for deeper exploration. Visit one of the region’s underground cities, walk the distinctive valleys, and take in panoramic viewpoints across the volcanic landscape. An optional hot air balloon flight can be arranged for early morning, weather permitting.
Fly to Denizli and transfer to Pamukkale. Visit the white mineral terraces that cascade down the hillside and explore Hierapolis, the ancient Roman spa city built around these thermal springs. The combination of natural spectacle and archaeological heritage is one of Turkey’s most distinctive experiences.
Drive to Kuşadası and spend the day at Ephesus, one of the most impressive ancient cities still standing in the Mediterranean world. Walk the marble streets, pass the Library of Celsus, enter the Great Theatre and explore the terraced houses that reveal the domestic world of Roman Ephesus in extraordinary detail.
Fly back to Istanbul from Izmir. Depending on your departure time, the final day can include additional time in the city, a lunch reservation or a direct transfer to the airport. Your guide ensures a smooth conclusion to the journey.

Strategically placed domestic flights replace the longest road transfers, reducing transit fatigue and giving you significantly more time at each destination.
Domestic flights are included in the itinerary and coordinated as part of the booking process. We select suitable departure times to maximise time at each destination. Private transfers to and from domestic airports are included. Specific airline and flight details are confirmed during the planning stage.
The balloon flight is an optional experience and is not included in the base price. It can be arranged as an add-on during the booking process. Balloon flights operate in the early morning and are entirely weather-dependent. We will advise on availability and book on your behalf if requested.
Standard domestic flight luggage allowances apply — typically 15 to 20 kilograms of checked baggage plus a carry-on bag. We recommend packing light for domestic legs. Any excess baggage fees are the responsibility of the traveller. Specific allowances are confirmed with flight details during the planning process.
The pace is moderate throughout. Most touring days involve two to four hours of walking on a mix of paved and unpaved archaeological surfaces. Comfortable walking shoes are essential. The itinerary is suitable for travellers of reasonable fitness. If you have specific mobility requirements, please let us know when booking so the itinerary can be adjusted accordingly.
Spring (April and May) and autumn (September and October) offer the most comfortable conditions, with moderate temperatures and excellent light for photography. Summer travel is possible at all destinations but temperatures at Ephesus and Pamukkale can be high between June and August. Cappadocia is accessible year-round, though winter can be cold. Balloon flights are most reliable in spring and early autumn.
All tours are private, fully customisable and available daily. We confirm within 24 hours.
