Ten Days Through the Civilizations of Anatolia
Turkey contains more layers of history than almost any country on earth. Byzantine Constantinople, the Ottoman capital, ancient Greek cities, Phrygian and Hittite remains, Roman spa towns, Seljuk trade routes, early Christian cave communities, a Gallipoli campaign that shaped modern nations, and the republican revolution that created present-day Turkey from the ruins of an empire.
The Grand Turkey Signature Journey is designed to connect all of these chapters into one coherent, carefully paced private experience. Over ten days, you will travel from Istanbul across the Dardanelles to Troy, south along the Aegean to Ephesus and Pamukkale, inland through Konya to Cappadocia, and northwest to Ankara before returning to Istanbul.
Every stop was chosen for its historical significance, not its convenience. Every transfer is comfortable. Every night is spent in a carefully selected property. This is Dese Tour's most complete Turkey experience, and the one we recommend most for first-time visitors who want to understand the country rather than simply visit it.
A ten-day exploration of Turkey's defining landscapes and civilizations.
Arrive in Istanbul and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is relaxed. Your guide will meet you in the evening to introduce the itinerary, answer questions and prepare you for the journey ahead.
A full day on the Historic Peninsula. Visit Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Imperial Harem, the Basilica Cistern and the Grand Bazaar. Your guide provides the full Byzantine and Ottoman historical context that makes each site meaningful.
Travel to the Gallipoli Peninsula. Visit the battlefields, memorials and cemeteries of the 1915 campaign that shaped the national identities of Turkey, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. A day of extraordinary historical and emotional depth.
Visit ancient Troy, the city whose story became the foundation of Western literary tradition. Continue to Pergamon, one of the great cities of the Hellenistic and Roman world, known for its acropolis, healing sanctuary and library that once rivalled Alexandria.
An extended guided visit to Ephesus, one of the most impressive ancient cities still standing in the Mediterranean world. Walk the marble streets, pass the Library of Celsus, enter the Great Theatre and explore the terraced houses that preserve the domestic life of Roman Ephesus in extraordinary detail.
Travel to Pamukkale, where white mineral terraces cascade down a hillside above the plain. Visit Hierapolis, the Roman spa city built around these thermal springs. The combination of natural landscape and ancient ruins is unlike anywhere else in Turkey.
Continue east to Konya, the Seljuk capital of Anatolia. Visit the Mevlana Museum, which preserves the tomb of Jalāl ad-Dın Rumi and serves as one of the most important places of Sufi pilgrimage in the world. Also visit the Alaeddin Mosque, the oldest surviving Ottoman-era mosque in Konya.
A full day in Cappadocia, exploring the volcanic landscape that has drawn inhabitants for thousands of years. Visit the cave churches of Göreme with their preserved Byzantine frescoes, descend into one of the region's underground cities, and walk through valleys shaped by centuries of wind and water into formations found nowhere else on earth.
Travel to Ankara, the capital of the Turkish Republic. Visit Anıtkabir, the monumental mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, which presents one of the world's great archaeological collections. Ankara represents the final chapter of Anatolia's civilizational story.
Complete the journey with arrival in Istanbul. Depending on your flight schedule, the final day can include additional time in the city, a restaurant reservation or a direct transfer to the airport.

Both options are available. The Grand Turkey Signature Journey is designed primarily as a private experience, allowing the pace, stops and focus to be adjusted to your interests. Small-group departures may be available on selected dates. Contact us to discuss the right format for your party.
We select boutique and characterful properties rather than large chain hotels. Each choice is made for its location, quality and sense of place. In Cappadocia, this typically means a cave hotel; in Pamukkale, a property close to the terraces. Specific hotel options are shared during the booking process and can be adjusted to suit your preferences.
No. The balloon flight is an optional experience that depends on weather conditions and availability. It can be arranged as an add-on. We recommend it enthusiastically but cannot guarantee conditions. Early morning departure is required and the experience is weather-dependent.
The pace is moderate throughout. Most days involve walking on uneven archaeological surfaces for two to four hours. There are no strenuous climbs required. The itinerary is designed to be comfortable for travellers of reasonable fitness. If you have specific mobility considerations, please let us know during the booking process so we can adjust accordingly.
Spring (April and May) and autumn (September and October) offer the most comfortable conditions for this journey. Temperatures are moderate, the light is exceptional and the major sites are accessible without summer crowds. July and August can be very hot at most stops, particularly Ephesus and Pamukkale. Winter travel is possible but some sites have reduced hours and Cappadocia can be cold.
All tours are private, fully customisable and available daily. We confirm within 24 hours.
