Along the way, your guide will introduce you to its trading culture, Ottoman commercial buildings, traditional crafts, and the stories behind some of its most distinctive corners.

The Journey

1. ÇemberlitaşMeet your guide at Çemberlitaş Tram Station, just a short walk from the Grand Bazaar. From here, begin your introduction to the commercial heart of historic Istanbul.
2. Kalpaşçılar CaddesiEnter the Grand Bazaar through one of its best known trading streets. Your guide will explain how the bazaar developed over centuries and how its different commercial areas became organised around particular crafts and goods.
3. Historic HansLeave the busiest shopping corridors and step into the historic hans that once served merchants travelling along major trade routes. These buildings functioned as places of rest, storage, business, and exchange for traders and their caravans.
4. Büyük Valide Han and Kızlar ağası HanExplore the courtyards of two historic commercial buildings and learn how Istanbul's trading networks connected the Ottoman capital with merchants arriving from across a much wider region.
5. Sandal BedesteniContinue into one of the historic covered market structures at the heart of the Grand Bazaar. Your guide will explain the role of the bedestens in imperial commerce and how valuable goods were traded and protected within these spaces.
6. Halıcılar SokakWalk through the traditional street associated with carpet and textile merchants. This part of the bazaar offers a closer look at the craftsmanship and specialist trades that have helped define its identity for generations.
7. Sahaflar ÇarşısıStep outside the covered bazaar and visit Istanbul's historic second hand book market. For centuries, this area has been associated with booksellers, manuscripts, students, and intellectual life.
8. Şark KahvesiFinish the experience with a traditional Turkish tea at Şark Kahvesi, one of the best known meeting places within the Grand Bazaar. Take a moment to enjoy the atmosphere before the tour comes to an end.
